The shonky chair
Gocco screen print on Arches, A5
This chair was orphaned on the sidewalk in our Brooklyn neighborhood--it listed a bit due to a crack in one of its legs, but we brought it home and fixed it up a little. It resided happily in the big, high-ceilinged bedroom of our apartment for about a year (keeping more than adequate company with the landlord's ostentatious 10-foot gilt-framed mirror) until we moved overseas and sold the chair at our stoop sale for five dollars more than we paid for it.
I preserved its memory in my sketchbook and recently made this print in honor of its beautiful imperfection.
